My wife and I flew to Venice just a few days after celebrating Christmas 2017. Second visit for me after almost 40 years when I was still in high-school! We deliberately selected this time of the year to avoid the crowds, taking the risk of variable weather. And we were not disappointed. There were quite a few tourists of course especially around the turn of the year but still manageable. We enjoyed a lot of rain, two sunny days and everything in between but mostly cold and humid weather. We stayed in San Polo during the first part of our stay and then moved to Cannaregio, both districts being very enjoyable.
Venice and the surrounding islands are a treasure for photographers and deserve multiple visits at different times of the year. This post is just a start and hopefully I’ll be back to capture more of the essence of this wonderful city.
