The Blackhouse – The Lewis Man – The Chessmen:  like Fin Macleod, detective in the Lewis Trilogy of famous Scottish writer Peter May, explore the secret beaches, steep cliffs, vast peat lands, and remote hamlets of Lewis island. The novels are about the weight of the past, failed relationships, lives gone wrong and the ill-treatment of children. They may also be called a hymn in praise of the beauties of the islands and the miseries of their weather.
