Coastline of Asturias
This coastline, 100km long, is not well-known to photographers but certainly worth a visit. I have spent a week there with a group a photographers in April 2019. The coast is very rocky which makes it interesting. High cliffs, well-cut capes, long strands of beaches, and smaller coves alternate. Spots are either at sea-level or on top of the cliffs, which is a challenge for someone like me, subject to vertigo. Beaches and the foot of cliffs are sometimes easy to access, but can require walking down very long stairs or treacherous paths. This guarantees more privacy!
Amazing rocks on Playa del Silencio
Playa de la Gueirúa
Probably one of the most photographed beach in Asturias. We walked down the endless stairs at night and had to stay at the bottom of the steps on a little platform, surrounded by waves that came crashing down on the surrounding rocks at high tide. There was soon enough light to capture the rocky islets in the middle of the cove and then the sun rose, bathing all the rock formations with golden light. I had decided to walk-up some of the stairs and capture this moment with a good angle.
Later, when the water receded, the beach was all for us and we could photograph all the pinnacles around.
